Motive software supports automatic syncing of up to 8 Prime Color cameras for multiple views and creative compositions. The number of cameras your system can handle will also depend on your network bandwidth and PC processing power.
The Prime Color is compatible with C-mount and CS-mount lenses designed for 1-inch, ⅔-inch, and ½-inch image circles. OptiTrack offers its own “fast glass” lenses optimised for performance.
The Prime Color is primarily a video reference camera and does not have built-in audio recording capabilities. Audio is typically captured through separate dedicated audio recording systems and synchronised in post-production using SMPTE timecode or other methods.
Requirements vary based on the number of cameras and desired resolution/frame rate. Generally, a powerful CPU (e.g., Intel i9 or equivalent), ample RAM (16GB+, 32GB+ for multiple cameras), a dedicated graphics card (e.g., NVIDIA GTX/RTX series), and a high-speed network interface (1Gbps for 1-2 cameras, 10Gbps+ for 3+ cameras) are recommended. Refer to OptiTrack documentation for specific recommendations.
While the Prime Color is optimised for the OptiTrack ecosystem and Motive software, its standard video output and synchronisation options (like Genlock and SMPTE) may allow for integration with other systems, though this would require custom setup and may not offer the same level of seamlessness.
The Prime Color FS (Filter Switcher) model includes a software-operated filter switcher, allowing users to easily switch between an IR-pass filter (for calibration alongside IR motion capture cameras) and an IR-cut filter (for standard colour video capture). This is particularly useful for workflows requiring both types of imaging from the same camera.
