Geomagic Haptic Devices
Geomagic Haptic devices provide true three-dimensional navigation and force feedback, integrating a sense of touch into the Geomagic® Freeform®and Geomagic® Sculpt® 3D modeling systems as well as for research and commercial applications.
When haptics are used in the Geomagic design and virtual sculpting environments, designers can interact and feel the shape of the 3D data almost as if they were designing in physical clay. This enables far more intuitive 3D design with interactive clay sculpting tools that perform just like the real world.
These patented Geomagic haptic devices ingeniously use motors to create forces that push back on the designer’s hand to simulate touch when the cursor interacts with the 3D model in virtual space.
Geomagic haptic devices are used in a broad range of applications, as well as cutting-edge R&D projects, in which intuitive, realistic interaction with the digital world is desired. On several models, the device’s end effectors can be customized to simulate a variety of tools. OEM applications include medical simulations and training exercises in which the stylus emulates the physical sensations – like probing, puncturing, drilling or cutting – of using a syringe, scalpel, arthroscope or another medical instrument.

The 3D Systems Geomagic line of haptic devices includes the Touch 3D Stylus, the Geomagic® Touch™ (formerly the Sensable Omni), the Geomagic® Touch™ X (formerly the Sensable Phantom Desktop) and the family of 3D Systems Phantom Premium™ models. There’s a haptic device to fit almost any set of requirements; the wide array of models vary by workspace size, strength and number of forces, range of motion, position sensing accuracy, inertia and fidelity. Geomagic Touch and Geomagic Touch X devices support a range of motion equivalent to hand movement pivoting at the wrist, and they power a variety of commercial, academic and research applications.
Representing the new generation in haptic technologies, the Touch 3D Stylus delivers a sense of touch to design in an affordable solution. Compatible with Geomagic Sculpt and the Freeform family of products.
The Geomagic Touch (formerly the Sensable Omni) model delivers a full haptic experience in a cost-effective package. Constructed of durable metal and injection-molded plastics, Geomagic Touch offers six-degree-of-freedom positional sensing. Additionally, Geomagic Touch allows a high degree of flexibility with a portable design, compact footprint, removable stylus and two integrated buttons.
Geomagic Touch X
The award-winning Geomagic Touch X (formerly the Sensable Phantom Desktop) haptic device is an affordable, sophisticated desktop solution that provides precision positioning input, high fidelity force-feedback output, stronger force reactions and lower friction. As with all of the Geomagic haptic devices, Geomagic Touch X is CE certified with a comfortable molded-rubber stylus for long-term use.
The 3D Systems Phantom® Premium™ models provide a range of motion equivalent to arm movement pivoting at the elbow or the shoulder suitable for detailed scientific research projects. The Phantom Premium line includes two High Force (HF) models and three 6DOF (Degrees of Freedom) devices. 6DOF devices provide force-feedback on orientation (pitch, roll and yaw) in addition to spatial position.
