Is Post Processing Important For my 3D Prints?

Post-curing is an essential final step that fundamentally improves your 3D-printed parts on a molecular level. Utilizing 405 nm light, this process initiates a chemical reaction that cross-links the individual polymers.

This reaction transforms the material into an interconnected, isotropic (uniform in all directions), and 100% dense final part, delivering significant upgrades in performance.

Surface Hardness

Higher resistance to scratching and wear.

Toughness

Greater resistance to fracture and impacts.

Creep Resistance

Better stability under sustained stress over time.

Temperature Resistance

Higher Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT).

The Complete SLS
Workflow: Print, Sift, Blast

Achieving high-quality, end-use SLS parts involves a streamlined workflow.
The Fuse ecosystem, including the Fuse 1+ 30W printer and Fuse Sift,
simplifies this process for Australian users.

1. Print

Easily set up your printer and achieve fast printing thanks to the 30W laser.

Print same-day prototypes and enable small series manufacturing of durable end-use parts in under 24 hours.

    Frequently Asked Questions

The “L” series (Form Wash L and Form Cure L) handles high-volume production and processes large parts. These units offer significantly increased capacity compared to the standard units. The Form Wash L accommodates the build platform from the Form 3L or multiple build platforms from the Form 3/3B. Similarly, the Form Cure L provides a larger chamber to cure these bigger or batch-produced parts efficiently.

The Fuse Sift is an all-in-one powder recovery station for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) prints from the Fuse 1 series. It automatically sieves and recycles used powder, mixing it with new powder to create fresh material for your next build. Ultimately, this process allows for high powder reuse rates (often 70% or more), dramatically reducing material waste and lowering the cost-per-part in SLS 3D printing.

Yes, post-curing is highly recommended or required for most Formlabs resins. While parts are structurally solid after washing, post-curing in the Form Cure ensures the material reaches its optimal performance characteristics as specified in the technical data sheet. It is mandatory for all biocompatible and dental resins to meet regulatory requirements and safety standards.

The Fuse Blast is a fully automated cleaning and polishing solution for SLS 3D printing. Specifically, after parts are removed from the Fuse Sift, the Fuse Blast quickly removes any remaining loose powder (depowdering) and can provide an optional semi-smooth finish or polish. Consequently, it dramatically reduces the time spent on manual sandblasting or cleaning, making the SLS workflow faster and more scalable.

The Formlabs Fast Cure is a powerful, high-performance curing unit specifically designed for rapid dental 3D printing workflows. It delivers the required post-curing energy to small dental parts in as little as one to six minutes, which is significantly faster than standard curing units.

This speed is crucial for high-throughput dental lab environments printing appliances like aligner models, retainers, and surgical guides.
