Powerful Reverse Engineering in SOLIDWORKS
Mesh2Surface is a reverse engineering add-in for SOLIDWORKS that lets you convert 3D scan meshes into CAD models. It provides efficient tools to generate surfaces and curves to help reconstructing a professional CAD model.
Save more than 50% on time and efforts over any other approach of doing reverse engineering in SOLIDWORKS® by using Mesh2Surface add-in.
What is Mesh2Surface for SOLIDWORKS®?
Mesh2Surface allows the user to:
- Import large scan data effectively in SOLIDWORKS in seconds, not minutes;
- Extract reference geometries, including symmetry plane;
- Align intuitively in the right position in space, to existing cad model or multiple scans;
- Create reference cross sections for sketching – parallel, rotational and outline;
- Fit precisely line arcs and complex shapes to reference section points
- Approximate free form surfaces with best fit surface;
- Reverse engineering organic and free form shapes in most accurate way;
- Compare the CAD models against the reference data instantly with 3D colour map;
- Convert free form organic shapes just with the hit of a button;
And do all this in your favourite CAD package – SOLIDWORKS;
Do it all in SOLIDWORKS® environment with simple and easy to use tools of Mesh2Surface add-in
Natively integrated in the SOLIDWORKS, Mesh2Surface allows you to work seamlessly in a familiar way.
Scan Data Import
Load data from any scanner using the industry standard STL, OBJ or PLY mesh files. For the purposes of manipulation the build-in polygon reduction function allows the user to create a mesh with suitable number of triangles without compromising the quality of the mesh.
Interactive selection
Simple to use tools to quickly extract areas of interest. Magic wand, brush and free form selection allows the user to identify the areas that represent features or free form surfaces
Reference geometries
Primitives extraction
Reconstruct quickly planes, cylinders, cones and spheres. Create the extracted primitives in SOLIDWORKS as reference geometries, surface or solid bodies.
Symmetry plane
Automatic detection of symmetry plane with colour map analyser. Additional manual adjustment controls for best results.
Scan data align
Align scan data in space
Position the object into the world coordinate system using the extracted primitives. The interactive definition of the coordinate system allows the user to adjust the correct orientation of the object.
Align to CAD
Quick and accurate align scan data to already existing CAD models.
Align multiple scans
Combine multiple scans of the same part to create a single representation of the object
2D Sketch
Cross sections
Interactive sectioning allows the user to extract reference points for 2D Sketching. Align the section plane to extracted primitives, standard SOLIDWORK reference geometries or CAD faces of existing surface or solid bodies.
Fit 2D Sketch entities
Extract lines, arcs and circles from the section planes as best fit primitives. Quickly connect or fillet with simple brushing operations.
Complex 2D shapes recognition
Extract rectangles, slots and even hexagons with just a single brush
3D sketching and best fit surfaces
3D Sketch on scan data
Draw style lines and points directly on scan data. Adjust precisely the location with the interactive tools and use the true real-time deviation analyzer for best precision.
Fit Surface
Select area of interest and let the software to approximate the selection with a free form surface. The resulting surface is extended so it is suitable for trimming. The real-time deviation colour map instantly shows the quality of the surface. Automatic option allows the user to create surface as close as possible to the reference mesh.
Reverse engineering organic surfaces
Free Form Modelling
Simple and efficient, the free form surfacing allows the user to reconstruct free form surface which is not possible with the standard surfacing methods. Proprietary snap-to-mesh technology allows even non-professionals to create shapes in no time – something not available in any other solutions.
Automatic surfacing
Create surfaces compatible in SOLIDWORKS with just hit of a button. Mesh2Surface automatic surfacing is one of the best on the market today.
Compare scan data against CAD models for accuracy
Deviation Analyser
Control the accuracy of your reconstruction with the efficient distance colour map. Compare the CAD model against the reference mesh at any time of your process. The deviation analyser works with any SOLIDWORKS body (surface or solid) and compares the reference scan data with almost instant speed.
