3D Printing With PETG Filament
PETG Filament (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is a semi-rigid material with good impact resistance that is commonly used in water bottles.
PETG Filament Applications and Guidelines
Applications
- Parts required being resistant to salts, acids and alkalis
- Machine components
- Elements requiring resistance to greases and oils
- Packaging prototypes
- Prototypes of mechanical parts
Printing Guidelines
- Typical melting temperature: 235-255°C
- Typical softening temperature: 80°C
- Print surface: Blue Painters Tape
- Bed temperature: 50-70°C
Pros Vs Cons
Pros
- Resistant to salts, acids, and alkalis
- Glossy and smooth surface finish
- Resistant to impact, time, and UV light
- Adheres well to bed
- Low warpage
- Mostly odourless when printing
Cons
- Doesn’t bridge well
- Prone to stringing
- The softer surface makes it prone to wear
