Thinglab
3D scan your object ensuring all information is captured, importantly paying particular attention to required areas of interest.
Fully assess and process the scan data to produce a highly detailed accurate mesh file such as a .STL or .OBJ.
Using the mesh data build your CAD model. Utilising reverse engineering software using surfaces and profiles to create a CAD model.
Depending on your software export fully editable parametric models such as STEP, IGES or parasolid which can be used in all major CAD programs.
Reversing engineering is the process of deconstructing an object, working back to analyse its origins and current state. The result can be a full parametric model which is editable and used in all major CAD packages.
Once you have a CAD model created you are able to perform digital analysis such as measurement checking, weight optimisation and, FEA to name a few.
With your editable CAD file you are easily able make changes to your design. Examples of this are moving holes, changing profiles and adding components, the options are endless.
Comparison between a CAD model of a manufacturing tool and produced component. This way you can compare the two and a look at the differences.
You are able to design around your reverse engineered object. This may be to check clearances, to design within a space or adding to an existing assembly.
